The Suffolk Heritage Coast provides an ideal environment for bird watchers, walkers, artists, photographers and cyclists. Sutton Hoo, the burial ground of the Anglo Saxon Kings has a new visitor centre near the charming town of Woodbridge. Orford, with it's 12th Century Castle and famous smoke houses and Snape Malting Concert Hall home to the Aldeburgh festival are two of many attractions a short drive away. Bawdsey Manor is on the north bank at the mouth of the River Deben opposite Felixstowe Ferry. The passenger Ferry runs from April - October every year. By Rail - from London Liverpool St station to Ipswich (1hr) and then on to Melton (20 mins) where you can get a Taxi (15 mins) to Bawdsey Manor. By Car - from M25 take the
A12 north, direction Ipswich then Lowestoft. After Woodbridge take the
A1152 to Melton then the B1083 to Bawdsey Quay. |
